The 2023 ISPE Biotechnology Conference in Dublin from 26-27 June 2023, provided both in-person and virtual attendees an overall view of the development and manufacturing of biotechnology products.
For current biotech-based product platforms, increasing production yields through process intensification is highly leveraging in terms of cost of goods reduction, plant capacity, and production floor time. Further, multiproduct, multimodality facilities designed with flexibility in mind will reduce capital investment. This includes modular facility design and collaborative project delivery concepts.
Specific sessions focused on cell and gene therapy, Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products (ATMPs), and mRNA-based products - such as vaccines. In addition, the conference featured presentations with a focus on speed to market, reduced submission approval times, product technology transfer, new concepts for control strategy, quality oversight, manufacturing, and logistics.
