Piero Zucchelli is a successful entrepreneur in the field of lab automation, currently helping 5 companies in the field of automation and robotics for life sciences as board member and investor. Previously, Piero founded Andrew Alliance, an innovative life sciences robotics company, that he led for 10 years as CEO up to the acquisition from Waters corporation. Before Andrew Alliance, Piero was founder and CTO of SpinX Technologies for 8 years, creating one of the most advanced lab-on-a-chip microfluidics platforms. Prior to that, Piero was a staff member at CERN and INFN, spending 11 years developing particle detectors and co-authoring about 100 scientific publications in particle physics. Piero received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics for work performed at Stanford University and CERN. He was awarded the international “Tomassoni and Chisesi” prize for a revolutionary invention, the neutrino beta-beam, and is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the SLAS Technology Journal. Piero now encourages other innovative lab instrument and software companies to strive to eliminate other error-prone manual analytical processes and let scientists concentrate on developing new safe medicines. He currently sits on the board of directors for five different companies in automation and robotics for life sciences.
