Michael Petzi

CSL Behring
Principal Process Technology Engineer
Michael has been in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 15 years and previously worked in the chemical industry. He holds a degree in biotechnology engineering from the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences, Germany. His focus is on the technical design and implementation of pharmaceutical plants. His start in an engineering office and his later move to CSL Behring gave him the unique opportunity to be responsible for projects from the initial idea to optimization during operation. In addition to the increasing size and complexity of the systems he implemented, the demand for digitalization also increased. He has established a range of software tools in his projects with focus on consistency and continuity to shorten timelines, reduce cost and improve results. One mainstay for him is process simulation, which he already uses to plan cost-effective systems with robust production capacity at an early stage and with little effort. The continued use in the plant life cycle even after it has been handed over to the operator is of great concern to him.
